Former UCF Golden Knight Daunte Culpepper to Open New Restaurant by Alma Mater
(PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- Former Knight Daunte Culpepper alongside former UCF quarterback Kyle Israel and radio personality Tony Comas will be opening the doors to what will be the newest restaurant in the UCF Area. The restaurant, which is appropriately named Culpeppers, is located on University Boulevard just one mile from campus and is set to open on August 28. The former NFL quarterback looks to be reconnecting with his alma mater and recently vowed to become a bigger part of the Knights’ community.
“I want to be a part of that,” said Culpepper, a three-time NFL Pro Bowl selection and member of the UCF Hall of Fame. “I think coming here knowing what it was as a freshman, staying in [dorms] just 200 yards from here, and seeing where it is now, it just makes me feel good to have an opportunity to be a part of this community.”
While at UCF, Culpepper virtually rewrote all over 30 of the school's quarterback records. He also set an NCAA record for single-season completion percentage at 73.6%, breaking a 15-year-old mark set by Steve Young (71.3%). Culpepper accomplished a feat equaled by only two others in NCAA history when he topped the 10,000-yard passing mark and the 1,000-yard rushing mark in his career. He finished his career sixth on the NCAA's all-time total offense list for all divisions with 12,459 yards and was responsible for 108 career touchdowns (84 passing).
Culpepper continued that same level of success in the NFL with a historic 2004 season in which he set a single-season record, since broken, for the most total yardage produced by a quarterback in NFL history (5,123).
