Gillece Services Partners With The DAV - Disabled American Veterans To Give Furnaces To Needy Vets
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- Gillece Services has partnered with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, to give new furnaces to veterans in need. As part of the Gillece Free Furnace Program, qualified veterans can receive a furnace with installation free of charge.
According to the company’s president, Tom Gillece, he is hoping to provide safety and comfort for regional veterans who cannot afford a proper heat source to heat their homes this winter.
“There are so many veterans who face serious financial challenges and I wanted to find a way to help. After meeting with the local DAV chapter, it was clear that we could make a difference and give back to those who bravely served our country,” Mr. Gillece said.
Qualified applicants must have a demonstrated financial need, have proof of service in the United States Military, and own and reside in a home in Western Pennsylvania. All applications go through the DAV, Chapter 8 of Greater Pittsburgh, who will determine final recipients.
“We are grateful to have partners like Tom Gillece, to help us serve veterans of all ages who have real financial difficulties. This program provides a meaningful donation that will have an immediate impact on the lives of families in our community,” said Kevin Noel, DAV Chapter 8 Commander.
The Gillece Free Furnace Program was originally established in 2008 in partnership with LifeSpan, an organization providing services to area senior citizens in need. Gillece continues to install free furnaces for seniors through the organization. This year’s extended partnership with the DAV is part of Gillece’s ongoing commitment to supporting area veterans through employment programs, donations, and partnerships.
Gillece and the DAV hope to donate several furnaces to veterans in need throughout Western PA through February, and Tom Gillece said, he plans to continue the program for future winter seasons.
