Deadline Nears as Scholarship Competition Attracts Students from Around the Globe
As the January 18th deadline draws near, The Trustee Scholarship competition at Fork Union Military Academy is heating up, attracting student applicants from all over the United States, as well as Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
FORK UNION, Va., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As the January 18th deadline draws near, The Trustee Scholarship competition at Fork Union Military Academy is heating up, attracting student applicants from all over the United States, as well as Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This merit-based scholarship competition will provide the winning applicant with a full scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year to attend Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Virginia, a boarding and day school for boys in grades 7-12 and postgraduate.
Tripp Billingsley, the Director of Admissions for the school, reports he has received scholarship applications from students all across the United States, as well as those living in countries as far away as Nigeria, Pakistan, India, and Jordan. "It is a very diverse group of high-performing young men, and I expect it will be a challenge to select the top candidate. The selection committee has a great group of young men to look at." The finalists in the scholarship competition will be chosen by a committee of educators and administrators from Fork Union Military Academy and invited to the campus for further interviews.
Students who will enter grades 8, 9, or 10 in the fall of 2019, have a GPA equivalent to 3.0 or higher, and are first-time applicants to the fall program are eligible to compete for Fork Union Military Academy's Trustee Scholarship. The Trustee Scholarship is a competitive merit-based award that covers full tuition, room and board, and uniforms for an incoming cadet to Fork Union Military Academy.
Affordability is a key factor for many families looking at private schools, and Fork Union Military Academy provides opportunities to as many students as possible. Need-based financial aid and access scholarship funds are used by the school to assist as many young men as possible to enroll in our program. The Trustee Scholarship is different from other financial aid and scholarship programs offered by Fork Union, however.
The Trustee Scholarship is unique in that it is competitive and completely need blind. This means that applicants for this scholarship do not need to fill out a financial aid application. The finalists are selected based on the strength of their own achievements and abilities, as documented in their scholarship and admission applications. Finalists in the scholarship competition are invited to campus for an interview with the Academy's scholarship committee before the final award is announced.
