After 25 years, Galfand Berger managing partner Debra A. Jensen has passed the torch to Senior Partner Michael P. Malvey, who was announced as Galfand Berger's new managing partner effective January 1.
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- At the time of Jensen's election as Galfand Berger's managing partner in 1999, she became one of only three women managing partners at non-boutique Philadelphia law firms. Over the 25 years Jensen managed the firm, she concurrently first chaired complex medical malpractice, product liability, and construction cases leading to multi-million-dollar results for her clients and their families. Jensen has also devoted time to her work as a senior hearing committee member for the PA Supreme Court Disciplinary Board.
"But for my friend and colleague Rick Jurewicz, I have participated in hiring virtually every attorney currently working at Galfand Berger. Each and every one of us is a highly skilled professional and capable adversary. Galfand Berger's results speak to the caliber of attorneys we invite to join us. I am proud to have made a positive impact on shaping the firm and holding true to its original mission: helping people and their families in a time of need."
Approaching 40 years at Galfand Berger, Jensen will now enjoy what she calls "the luxury of practicing law full time" as she hands over managing partner responsibilities to Partner Michael P. Malvey. "Mike is natural in assuming managing partner responsibilities. He is a talented attorney and also a brilliant communicator. He is a skilled litigator with an impressive courtroom record. He is well-liked and highly respected within the firm and the legal community at large. Without a doubt, Mike will be an excellent managing partner."
"Since 1947, Galfand Berger's attorneys and staff have been committed to restoring dignity and security to people hurt through no fault of their own. With the passage of time comes the need to change and adapt. As I step away from management responsibilities and devote my time to my cases, I do so with complete confidence that Mike Malvey will guide Galfand Berger in the right direction with new ideas, initiatives, and creativity. It is a new era for our firm, and I am delighted to be a part of our continuing evolution."
