DEL MAR, Calif., May 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Del Mar is gearing up for its milestone 80th season brimming with weekend concerts and events that will bring thousands of locals and vacationers to the iconic seaside track for a spectacular summer scene. Founded by Bing Crosby in 1937, Del Mar began as a Hollywood hot spot and transformed into a premier West Coast destination for stars from the worlds of entertainment, sports, fashion and fun. The racetrack's highly anticipated Opening Day kicks off on Wednesday, July 17, and the fun continues through Labor Day Monday, September 2.
The summer season features free concerts from some of the nation's best country and reggae musicians—including Grammy-winning artist Ziggy Marley on Saturday, July 20 and country music's hottest new trio Midland on Saturday, July 27. Del Mar's Summer Concert Series gives music-goers the chance to catch a free concert every Friday and select Saturdays throughout the season. Other highlights from this year's talented lineup include jazz artist Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Friday, August 2, alternative reggae rockers Iration on Saturday, August 3, and country crooner Chase Rice on Friday, August 16. All Friday concerts are presented by San Diego County Toyota Dealers.

Additional performers and dates will be announced in the coming weeks. All concerts are 18 and up and free with the purchase of standard $6 racetrack admission. For concertgoers entering after the day's final race, admission is $30. Performances begin shortly after the last race of the day. Weekend concerts are presented by Pacifico, Patron and Coors Light.
Returning this summer is the opportunity for concertgoers to upgrade their concert experience in the South Terrace, a premium view and VIP section. For just $50, this exclusive ticket includes an enhanced view with seating, private restrooms and private cash bar. Guests should be sure to arrive in advance of all Friday concerts to score half-off signature drinks during Happy Hour—from gate opening until 6 p.m. every Friday throughout the season.
For those looking to enjoy a Friday evening in the Turf Club, Del Mar introduces "Sip in Style" taking place every Friday. For $80 guests gain access to an exclusive Turf Club table, a free drink from the featured beverage partner – such as Veuve Clicquot, Patron, Grey Goose and Maker's Mark – all paired with live music and premier racing.
