Dentistry by John Barras DDS Announces Educational Scholarship for Individuals Diagnosed with Autism

HOUSTON, March 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dentistry by John Barras, DDS and its founder, Houston dentist Dr. John Barras, have announced that the office will once again be offering a $1,000 educational scholarship for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (autism or ASD). The funds will be applied to cover a portion of the tuition cost at the educational institution chosen by the winning applicant.

Autism is a complex condition affecting, among other things, communication. Individuals with ASD face certain challenges that affect not only their lives in general, but specific tasks that are required as they move forward in an educational setting. It is the hope of Dr. Barras as well as the other dentists and staff at the office that in offering this scholarship, they will be providing an incentive for those with autism to continue with their studies.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens diagnosed with ASD or autism (DSM-V), and who expect to be enrolling in the not too distant future in a university, college, junior college or trade/vocational school. There is no requirement that applicants be enrolled in school at the time they submit their application.

Applications must be submitted no later than February 19, 2020. The name of the scholarship recipient will be announced on or before July 1, 2020.
