Denver Realtor Allie Kirby Begins Gals Who Give Denver Chapter
Denver Realtor Allie Kirby, of New Era Group -- Your Castle Real Estate, founded Gals Who Give with former Denver Broncos Cheerleader teammate Angela Wood, a group of local women who are passionate about creating a meaningful impact in their communities through collaboration with other women.
DENVER, July 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The mission of Gals Who Give is to reach out and help local charities with the funds donated each quarter to do the amazing work they are doing in their respective communities. Gals Who Give fulfills its mission by recruiting and connecting with women in Denver who each contribute $100 at its quarterly events to benefit a local charity that they vote on together, which changes each quarter.
Kirby and her business partner, Angela Wood, believe that change starts within the community. "We have about 72 members right now and encourage more to join to be a part of the community to help improve the impact that we make! The whole idea is that together we can make a bigger impact," said Kirby, who is also an advocate for first-time home buyers. "We invite you to become part of a dynamic and inspired group of local women who are interested in making a meaningful impact right here in our local communities. We come from all walks of life and varying financial backgrounds. We realize that individually it is challenging to make a significant difference, but as a group we have the ability to contribute to the growth and health of our communities in ways we never thought possible."
The group meets every quarter and members are encouraged to nominate any Denver County non-profit. They pick three random non-profits out of a hat, and the three members that nominated those non-profits get up and educate the other Gals Who Give members about that non-profit in front of the group, about their mission in Denver, and how their donation would assist their cause. After these heartfelt presentations, all Gals Who Give members get to vote on which non-profit they think should receive the group's donation, votes are tallied and the winning recipient is announced.
Gals Who Give meets quarterly. In December 2018, Gals Who Give raised $4,600 for Global Orphan Prevention. They also recently raised over $8,000 for the Sun Valley Youth Center during their Q1 meeting in February of 2019 and $4,100 during their Q2 Event for Shimmering Wings.
"It's pretty powerful when our members get up to speak about the non-profit they nominated and learn that their mission directly impacts some of our other members," concluded Kirby. "It becomes a powerful and at times very emotional hour. It's truly remarkable to feel the magic in the room after one of our events, and even more rewarding to surprise the winning non-profit with our donation!"
Interested Denver women can join the next meeting on Tuesday, August 13th, at Bigby's Folly at 6 p.m., and are encouraged to bring their friends, family or co-workers. All Denver women are welcome to help make a change!
