Denver Zoo Interim President/CEO Kyle Burks released a statement today in support of USFW’s Ivory Crush event on Nov. 14.

“We wholeheartedly support all efforts to bring awareness to this critical issue. We are committed to saving elephants by eliminating ivory trade. Crushing this seized ivory sends a very clear message - we will not tolerate the unnecessary killing of the world’s most majestic creatures,” says Denver Zoo's Kyle Burks.

“Denver Zoo and other AZA accredited zoos and aquariums are uniquely positioned to ensure our communities realize the importance of the US taking a strong stance against illegal wildlife trade. The ongoing education of the public is what is going to make real change in support of animals long term,” Burks added.

Denver Zoo serves two million people annually through on-site attendance and regional outreach. The Zoo joins other leaders combating this issue including the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the Wildlife Conservation Society through the 96 Elephants campaign at 96elephants.org.
