Designatronics, in Partnership with Others, Takes Action to Develop the Regions Workforce Through Enhanced Training
HICKSVILLE, N.Y., June 15, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A partnership between Designatronics, Inc. and other Long Island manufacturers, including Oerlikon Metco, Schivo Medical, Precipart and Thuro Metal Products, will expand the regions manufacturing workforce through enhanced training. Joining together in support of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center located at the Michael J. Grant Campus of Suffolk County Community College, the group purchased and donated state-of-the-art CNC equipment, STAR Swiss Style Lathe with Bar Feeder.

Offering a variety of courses designed to develop and upgrade skills in manufacturing, the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center is for machinists already working in the field as well as those entering the workforce. Programs include CNC Operator, Welding, Mastercam, and more.

"With this in mind, we have developed a Manufacturing Advancement Scholarship Program designed to enrich the skills and knowledge of our employees. Two scholarships are awarded each fall, and spring semester to those employees interested in advancing their level of expertise in CNC machining. The scholarship covers full tuition at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, and a Certificate is awarded upon successful completion."
With a focus on workforce development, Suffolk County Community College marked the completion of the Renewable Energy / STEM Center on the Michael J. Grant Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 1, 2023. The 26,000-square-foot center is a "net zero" building. Optimized for efficiency, a net-zero building generates energy onsite using renewable resources in the quantity required for onsite consumption. Representatives from Designatronics were on hand to celebrate the space and the commitment to the community.
