New DesignMerge App for Enfocus Switch streamlines variable data production from packaged InDesign job through fully imposed PDF output.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Meadows Publishing Solutions has announced a major enhancement to its DesignMerge® App for Enfocus Switch, extending automated variable data production to include integrated PDF imposition. The new release further streamlines VDP production by allowing jobs to move from preparation in Adobe InDesign through variable data processing and final imposed PDF output with minimal operator intervention.
The new automated workflow will be demonstrated at PRINTING United Expo 2026, September 23-25 in Las Vegas, where Meadows will be exhibiting within the Enfocus booth, N6567.
A Simpler Approach to End-to-End VDP Automation
At the center of the enhanced workflow is the DesignMerge VDP Packager, a standard feature included with DesignMerge software. The VDP Packager assembles all of the components required to process a variable data job remotely, including the Adobe InDesign document, fonts, linked graphics, data files, and other variable assets.
With the latest release, users can now also include an Imposition Template created using DesignMerge PDF Imposer. The desired imposition is selected when the VDP job is packaged, allowing the imposition requirements to travel with the job as it enters the automated Enfocus Switch workflow.
From InDesign Document to Press-Ready PDF - Automatically
DesignMerge Pro provides variable data publishing directly within Adobe InDesign Server, while Enfocus Switch provides the workflow automation environment used to route and process jobs. Together, the technologies allow repetitive VDP production tasks to be moved from operator-driven processes into automated workflows.
The DesignMerge App for Enfocus Switch can process DesignMerge jobs without requiring an operator to manually open the InDesign document, perform the variable data merge, create the PDF output, or apply the final imposition.
By integrating the imposition requirements directly into the packaged job, the latest release extends that automation through another critical stage of print production.
