Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing Announces New Executive Director
CRAGSMOOR, N.Y. (PRWEB) June 11, 2019 -- Following a nation-wide search, the Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing has selected Peter Criswell as its new Executive Director. Criswell assumed his responsibilities June 3, transitioning from his recent role as Senior Program Curriculum Developer of the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY.
Criswell holds a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership from Manhattanville College and a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College. He currently serves on the City of Kingston's Arts Commission, the Bard College Board of Governors and the Board of Directors of Key of Q.
Criswell will partner with board chair Trevania Henderson. “We’re excited to welcome Peter into the Dharmakaya family,” said Henderson. “He brings our Center an incredible mix of educational programming and nonprofit management experience; he also has tremendous enthusiasm for our mission: to provide a wide range of practices drawn from ancient wisdom in order to cultivate physical and emotional wellbeing in the greatest number of people.”
“For instance, this summer we are offering secular programs, such as ‘It’s OK to be Vulnerable,’ as well as programs by two revered Buddhist lamas, Karma Trinlay Rinpoche and Jewon Jigme Rinpoche. We also have two yoga weekends scheduled: Peace to Power and Hatha Yoga. These augment our two free weekly programs: Sunday Meditation and Tuesday Evening Meditation—and, of course, people are always welcome to come on personal retreat. I’ve had guests tell me they can feel the tension melt away as soon as they step on the property.”
Henderson continues, “Peter has many fresh ideas about ways we can expand these offerings, both in scope and in reach.”
“I'm thrilled to serve as the first Executive Director of this new nonprofit retreat center,” said Criswell. “I look forward to working with the founder, the board, and the staff to build programs that have deep impact and create positive change locally, nationally, and globally—creating a ripple effect as our retreatants take their learnings back to their communities.”
“In addition to bringing world-renowned teachers to the Center, we envision expanding our current programming by developing mindfulness programs specifically to help businesspeople, educators, and people seeking to improve their health.” He notes, “Of course, we will also be building programs for our local community. We are eager to discover what interests people.”
The Dharmakaya Center for Wellbeing will be hosting open houses on Sunday, June 30 and Sunday, August 18 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. All are welcome.
