Digital Crossroad Lands Top 10 Content Delivery Network Client
Publicly traded firm with a global presence selects Digital Crossroad data center in Northwest Indiana.
HAMMOND, Ind., Jan. 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Digital Crossroad (DX), a wholesale colocation provider based in the Chicagoland market, today announced that it has secured a top 10 Content Delivery Network (CDN) client for its DX-1 data center in Hammond, IN.
Specific details about the company aren't being released, but it will soon begin serving customers globally. Officials are excited about the growing momentum of the new DX campus.
"We're thrilled to welcome this premier CDN to Digital Crossroad and Northwest Indiana. We have the people, technology, and strong public-private relationships to support their growth and success," said Thomas P. Dakich, Managing Member with DX.
"This is a great win," said John Greenwood, Chief Strategy Officer, Digital Crossroad. "Having a marquee edge computing firm place their trust and mission-critical IT infrastructure in our data center validates the hard work our team put in to making this site the go-to data center destination in the Chicagoland market."
The DX-1 data center met all of the company's requirements for security, network connectivity, scale, flexibility and reliability. In addition, the client was particularly attracted to Digital Crossroad's economic and environmental sustainability initiatives.
World-Class Facility
DX-1 is a 105,000 square foot, 20-Megawatt (MW) data center located on the former State Line Generating Plant, which was designed by Thomas Edison and served as one of the largest electricity producers in the Mid-west for much of the 20th century.
Digital Crossroad worked with state and local government officials to repurpose the 77-acre site as a data center campus and transform Northwest Indiana into a beacon of 21st century digital industry.
The Digital Crossroad data center campus offers the following economic, environmental and technological advantages:
- Located in a Designated Opportunity Zone, which confers favorable tax benefits to data center investments
- 0% sales and use tax exemption for up to 50 years on electricity, rent and data center IT equipment
- Innovative, multi-modal cooling system that utilizes outside air and water from Lake Michigan to reduce the need for artificial refrigerants
- Dedicated and diverse dark fiber access to key regional carrier hotels with sub 4 millisecond (ms) round-trip latency
Since launching the DX-1 data center in October 2020, Digital Crossroad has seen tremendous demand for the campus from large enterprise and hyperscale operators.
With 2021 underway, COVID-19 continues to reshape commerce, communication, entertainment and healthcare, forcing businesses to transform their digital operations. Digital Crossroad is well-positioned to serve the data center needs of many types of local, national and international firms.
