There is simply no question that greenhouse-warming theory is not only mistaken, it is not even physically possible. We are in the midst of a huge course correction—a major revolution in science,” Ward explains.

Dr. Peter L.Ward, CEO of Science Is Never Settled, Inc. and a 27-year veteran of the U.S. Geological Survey, has documented on a single web page, Physically-Impossible.com, why he believes the greenhouse-warming theory appears to be mistaken and why he does not believe it to be physically possible. Ward once managed a group of 140 scientists and staff, developed a major national research program, chaired a committee at the White House, and testified before Congress. He has been working full time, at his own expense, since 2006, re-examining all the assumptions made concerning the causes of observed global warming.
“The science is remarkably clear in hindsight,” Ward explains, “although it took years of hard work to discover the problem. Scientists are currently grossly overestimating the thermal energy absorbed by greenhouse gases. They are assuming that heat radiated by Sun is physically identical to heat radiated by Earth except that Sun radiates a greater amount of this thing they call heat.”
“Yet we all know that solar radiation causes sunburn, skin cancer, cataracts, and even mutations. No amount of heat radiated by Earth has enough energy to cause these serious medical conditions. Heat is not about amount. The physical properties of heat are determined by the temperature of the radiating body and by the difference in temperature between the emitting and absorbing bodies.”
Ward published a paper in 2016 showing how depletion of the ozone layer allows hotter solar radiation to reach Earth, explaining the details of observed global warming far more accurately than greenhouse theory. He has had trouble getting his fellow scientists, however, to consider the possibility that there might be some problems with greenhouse-warming theory. Most climate scientists, however, are convinced that greenhouse-warming theory is well established. Many sincerely believe that they must demonstrate consensus to encourage political leaders to spend the trillions of dollars required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by burning less fossil fuels. Many fear major harm to life on Earth within decades if political leaders do not act promptly, now.
Politics requires consensus, but science thrives on debate. Michael Crichton, MD and author, summarized it this way: “In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it's consensus, it isn't science. If it's science, it isn't consensus. Period.”
Mark Twain noted long ago that, “what gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so.”
And Max Planck, one of the fathers of modern physics, explained late in life, “a scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.”
“But.” Ward exclaims, “We do not have that much time to wait. We now understand unequivocally that temperature in matter and thermal radiation in air result from very high frequency oscillations of all the bonds holding matter together. We observe that the higher the temperature of matter, the higher the frequencies of oscillation and the higher the intensity of oscillation at each frequency.”
“Greenhouse-warming theory does not recognize this reality. There is simply no question that greenhouse-warming theory is not only mistaken, it is not even physically possible. We are in the midst of a huge course correction—a major revolution in science,” Ward explains. “We need to face physical reality now because greenhouse warming theory is rapidly becoming the most expensive mistake ever made throughout the history of science—economically, politically, and environmentally.”
“What is frustrating,” according to Ward, “is that my fellow scientists will not even engage in the discussion. That is why I am challenging them to prove me wrong. That is why I am reaching out directly to Congress, business leaders, and other decision makers to encourage them to ask the scientists to prove me wrong.”
Ward explains what he believes to be the problems with greenhouse gases, the causes of global warming throughout Earth history, and the actions we should take now to minimize global warming on his extensive website WhyClimateChanges.com. He provides web pages, extensive graphics, numerous videos, scientific papers, and a book all written in plain language intended for non-specialists.
“The science is so straightforward,” Ward claims, “that the basics can readily be understood by thoughtful people. There is now a scientific basis to bring all sides of the climate wars together to build a bright, energetic, and safe world for our grandchildren.”
