District Administration Magazine Honors First Ever ‘Districts of Distinction’
Norwalk, Connecticut (PRWEB) November 19, 2014 -- In its November edition, District Administration magazine honored 49 school districts from across the country in its new award program, Districts of Distinction.
Districts of Distinction is a national recognition program created by District Administration magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new ideas that work. Honorees were selected based on its quantifiable results and replicability for other districts. This inaugural round of Districts of Distinction honorees was selected by the magazine’s editors out of hundreds of nominations.
Among the honorees were Baltimore County Public Schools, which created credit recovery programs to boost its graduation rate, and Missouri’s Maplewood Richmond Heights School District, which brought service learning to new heights through project-based initiatives integrated into the daily curriculum. Another, Lake Orion Community Schools in Michigan, paired full-time reading interventionists with teachers in its kindergarten classrooms to boost early literacy.
“We are proud to announce the first round of Districts of Distinction,” says JD Solomon, editorial director at District Administration magazine. “All our honorees and their innovative initiatives serve as a model for school leaders across the country and we look forward to highlighting more districts as this new program expands.”
