“There’s a reason why District Doughnut has been voted Best Doughnut in the Nation’s Capital. It’s not just our commitment our quality but also our commitment to innovation and using data to give our customers what they want,” says co-founder and Executive Pastry Chef Christine Schaefer.

District Doughnut, the premier Washington DC based doughnut brand, announced today that it is making some big changes to its menu and offering. The company is creating its first customer driven seasonal doughnut menu.

“There’s a reason why District Doughnut has been voted Best Doughnut in the Nation’s Capital. It’s not just our commitment our quality but also our commitment to innovation and using data to give our customers what they want,” says co-founder and Executive Pastry Chef Christine Schaefer.

Schaefer has typically focused on seasonal trends. Visit in the Spring, and you’ll find flavors like Nutella Cream and the festival-inspired Cherry Blossom. Swing by in the Fall and enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte Creme Brûlée, Apple Cider, or Maple Butter Pecan. The shop’s menu changes by the season, but Schaefer wants to switch it up this year.

In December, Schaefer plans to roll out a data-driven monthly menu. New flavors will be selected through online polls, flavor sales, and customer feedback. Then, these new monthly flavors will compete for longer term spot on the menu at District Doughnut's 5 locations in the DMV.

Ahead of the new menu structure, the company is also making a big change to its pricing. This past spring, the company led a massive customer survey to better identify customer needs and wants. In addition to more customer input to the menu, customers also asked for more affordable options. In response to customer feedback, the company has introduced a bulk doughnut pricing discounts, with a half dozen for $16 or a dozen for $29. First time visitors can try ‘The DC’ - two doughnuts and a coffee for $7. These pricing changes present more than a 20% decrease in current prices.

“Our commitment to pursuing the perfect doughnut and to providing joyful experiences remains steadfast,” says Greg Menna, co-founder and CEO of District Doughnut. “There’s a reason our teal doughnut bags say ‘Happiness found’. District Doughnut is not just for a select few that can afford an artisanal doughnut experience free from artificial preservatives and flavors. District Doughnut is for everyone, and we are committed to offering more affordable pricing to allow our customers to enjoy more “hole foods” without the whole paycheck.”

District Doughnut starts from scratch in pursuit of the perfect doughnut. Perfection begins with Chef Christine’s secret recipes. By infusing our dough with real vanilla beans and allowing for 24 hours of rise time, we are raising the bar and creating the fluffiest and most naturally flavorful doughnuts in the world. From a classic Brown Butter to an indulgent Creme Brulee, happiness is found in the perfect doughnut. For more information visit http://www.districtdoughnut.com
