“Now that every company is a media company, we’re here to help every media company. Organizations of all kinds need to master new media technologies, and communicate in a multi-platform, multi-channel and micro-media world,” says Chris Knight, co-founder and creative director at Every Media Company.
SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) February 20, 2019
In the wake of the transformation of the entire media industry during the last decade, every company in the world has evolved into a media company. “Every company is a media company”* – a simple, yet profound, observation – was originally coined in 2005 by ex-Financial Times’ journalist Tom Foremski, who was one of first journalists to leave a major newspaper to become a full-time journalist blogger. Foremski founded Silicon Valley Watcher in May 2004.
Since that time, it’s become quite common for well-respected journalists to join or lead marketing communications teams for companies such as Brunswick Group, Hyperloop and Edelman. In an evolved media landscape, it’s critical to “think like a journalist” so corporate content is more relevant, impactful and intriguing to read or share.
Today, Foremski and long-time brand evangelist and marketing consultant Chris Knight, founder and creative director of Divino Group, have launched a new content strategy and editorial communications services division called Every Media Company™ based in San Francisco. Foremski and Knight have collaborated for more than a decade on content, stories and video for San Francisco Bay Area companies such as Aiqudo, Cengage Learning, Delphix, Maxtor Corporation and SanDisk.
“Now that every company is a media company, we’re here to help every media company. Organizations of all kinds need to master new media technologies, and communicate in a multi-platform, multi-channel and micro-media world,” says Chris Knight, co-founder and creative director at Every Media Company. “We advise executives and marketing teams on a winning content strategy and help them think and communicate like a journalist. We guide them on how to publish and distribute compelling and relevant content that people want to consume based on an editorial news-team model. We also train their internal staffs or implement full content programs for our clients, and advise on corporate newsrooms and publishing technologies.”
As a starting point, Knight and Foremski recommend a storytelling consulting session. Every Media Company’s senior consultants do a deep-dive into your company and sector in advance, and a thorough review of communications channels – from website to social media – and then they sit down with senior executives and marketing teams to develop an editorial content strategy.
Other Every Media Company services and training include company newsroom consulting and design, developing earned-media guest posts pitched to contributing editors at publications, owned content for LinkedIn and other social-media channels, video and podcast production and “Think Like a Journalist” group training sessions.
“In this age when ‘every company is a media company,’ it’s vital to sharpen your organization’s storytelling prowess to drive greater relevance and meaning for your audiences through the content organizations produce and distribute,” says Knight. “The ability to communicate well has always been a competitive advantage. We can help you think and produce content like a journalist to break through the noise, boost your readership and views, increase audience engagement and make a bigger impact.”
Knight began his career as a writer, photographer and TV producer at media outlets including ABC-TV, Salt magazine and the San Francisco Bay Guardian. Following that, he spent nearly two decades working for big PR shops including Cohn & Wolfe, GCI Group and Ruder Finn. He’s worked for global brands and startups, including: BMW, The Bay Citizen, ClearStory Data, G-Technology, Neato Robotics, Panasonic, Project Kaisei, SanDisk, Seagate Technology, Spot Runner and Sun Microsystems.
