DIY: Designing Clothes Has Never Been Easier
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- Felicia Zanguiabadi launched SweetMaterial.com in service to her zeal for fashion. Its main focus: to provide likeminded individuals access and ability through step by step instruction in personal garment production. Felicia has presented these DIY tutorials through her successful YouTube videos, giving those who want to learn how to design and sew clothes a free gateway to learn.
“When I began my part-time fashion design studies at The Fashion Institute of Technology I felt so overwhelmed that my instructor suggested I withdraw from the class. It was 2004 and I didn’t have the resources that are so readily available today. When I develop my video segments I keep the novice in mind and structure the tutorial segments to make the lessons more manageable and easier to understand.”
Her channel started back in August 2009 and since its inception other companies have taken advantage of the trend and provide interactive video courses for sewing and designing. “I think the sites that offer the services are amazing and their lesson plans are taught by experienced professionals. However, many enthusiasts are young and probably can’t afford the cost, or may be hesitant to make the purchase for economic reasons. If someone is looking to learn a new craft they continue building on their experience. Over time the cost of these courses can add up and attending an actual school may end up becoming more cost effective. YouTube on the other hand is a free; a subscriber can view as many videos as many times as they choose at their own pace. Afterwards, if someone is serious about a profession in fashion design then attending a school that specializes in that area becomes their next objective.
Fashion reality shows such as Project Runway and Fashion Star have stirred, enticed and inspired viewers to explore their own creativity. SweetMaterial.com is a part of that growing trend, and provides relevant and substantial help and information to all of those who love fashion and have a passion to become a part of it. Felicia, through focus, hard work, dedication and most of all, a natural zeal for all things fashion, has given us the SweetMaterial.
