His education and extensive work experience, including a stint at BMW in Germany, have made him an invaluable asset.

Diversified Machine Systems (DMS), a leading designer and manufacturer of 3 axis & 5 axis CNC routers & custom machining centers, welcomes Clay Guillory as the newest Mechanical Engineer for the expanding in-house engineering team. Committed to finding not just qualified, hard working professionals, but also people with the right attitude and personality, DMS believes we’ve found all these qualities in Clay.

Clay Guillory graduated from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, having completed both his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), and his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in German, and came to Colorado Springs in search of employment that was best suited to his passion for manufacturing and test engineering. His education in a wide variety of engineering qualifications including instrumentation, machine design II, fluids II, mechanical vibrations, control systems, finite element analysis, and computer aided design (CAD) makes him an ideal fit for this position.

Guillory has worked with many different companies including ElectroImpact in robotic tooling completion, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in assisting metal forming, High Tech Components in quality control inspecting, and with Michigan Technological University in undergraduate research in hybrid vehicles and advanced propulsion systems. His experience level exceeded our expectations regarding the necessary qualifications for this demanding position.

When asked why he decided to join DMS, after considering other offers, he had this to say, “DMS was right down my alley - it combined my passion for robotics with my desire to work for a smaller, tightly-knit company. When interviewing for this position, I immediately saw huge potential for professional growth, working alongside the experienced engineering staff. This sold me on the job and I couldn’t be happier here. I look forward to my future here working with fellow employees and DMS customers.”

“Clay has been a great addition to the engineering department.,” says Steve Bollar, Vice President of Mechanical Engineering. “His education and extensive work experience, including a stint at BMW in Germany, have made him an invaluable asset. He can easily handle many of the day-to-day tasks, while allowing us to continue take on more ambitious designs and custom CNC router projects.”

Clay’s main job at DMS is to assist in the critical first stage of the build process, the mechanical engineering of the CNC routers and machining centers. Since DMS focuses on creating custom routers, our engineers are tasked with producing top quality machines with different client-specific requirements. Clay ensures that these requested features and qualifications are integrated into each machine as requested. He creates the machine layouts, and components with advanced CAD tools, and delivers them to the manufacturing and assembly departments. He then oversees the production process to make sure his custom parts are being properly installed. If something needs to be changed during manufacturing, he is adamant about finding a permanent solution that will not compromise quality. This approach is something that we have grown to expect from our great engineers here at DMS, and we’re grateful to have him on board.
