Documentary Filmmaker Jonathan Stack Announces World Vasectomy Day, October 18, 2013
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Women For One Founder, Kelly McNelis Senegor recently spoke with renowned Documentary Filmmaker Jonathan Stack about his most recent project- World Vasectomy Day. Stack speaks about how vasectomies can contribute to lowering the global carbon footprint and reduce the constant rise towards global overpopulation. The documentary addresses the positive impact of 1,000 vasectomies in 25 countries throughout the world.
"When Jonathan first told me about his project I had many questions, but as I learned more about the mission, I was convinced that Women For One could fully support such a worthwhile goal for all of humanity." says Women For One founder, Kelly McNelis Senegor.
During Jonathan's travels with Doug Stein, the world’s leading provider of vasectomies he saw that the issue of vasectomies was not only about the personal choice a man can make, but about the biggest issue we face on this planet. We are both the cause of the trauma we are experiencing on this planet (war, climate change, poverty) and the solution.
World Vasectomy Day is an idea that is evolving every day. In its most basic iteration, the idea is that they will find 1000 men on this planet in 25 countries who will dedicate their vasectomies to helping Mother Earth.
"On World Vasectomy Day we anticipate lowering our collective carbon footprint by 10 million metric tons. That’s enough to reforest Manhattan. Of course, it’s a drop in the bucket, but over time that’s how buckets get filled and real change happens." says Jonathan Stack
Jonathan notes that it's important to emphasize that they are not saying ‘don’t have children’. What they are saying is men need to take on a much more robust role in family planning. In many parts of the world the single greatest cause of death for women aged 15 – 35 is pregnancy. They also say 50% of pregnancies are unintended.
