DoMyOwnPestControl.com Goes Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Norcross, GA (PRWEB) September 02, 2015 -- Since 2011, DoMyOwnPestControl.com has been donating to the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to help support childhood cancer research. On June 17, 2014, the owners of DoMyOwnPestControl.com met with C.H.O.A. to discuss the upcoming WSB Radio Care-A-Thon, which is the fund-raising event DoMyOwnPestControl.com sponsors each year. The very next day (June 18th), the CEO of DoMyOwnPestControl.com received the devastating news that his 2-year-old son, Grant, had been diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer.
For the entire month of September, DoMyOwnPestControl.com will be donating a portion of their sales to the Rally Foundation. Despite cancer being the leading cause of death by disease in children, childhood cancer research gets less than 4% of the NCI’s $5 billion research budget. The Rally Foundation has received the Independent Charity Seal of Excellence and received the highest available ranking on GuideStar and gives 94% of all of their donations to childhood cancer research in hopes of finding better treatments with fewer side effects, and hopefully one day, a cure.
Because childhood cancer is very different than adult cancer, and because adult cancer research is where most donated funds are allocated, there is a great need to fund and support those who are researching better ways to help children with cancer. Currently, children with cancer are forced to use harsh adult chemo treatments, which, even if they survive, leave them with life-long side affects, such as the inability to have children.
The Rally Foundation is fighting to change this. They are asking anyone who is willing to step up and help make childhood cancer research a national priority. DoMyOwnPestControl.com has now partnered with the Rally Foundation and is committed to doing everything it can to help raise awareness.
