Since its inception over five years ago, Sunshine Awakenings has hosted free hug days, free juggling lessons, art therapy, and more. While Sunshine Awakenings is intentional about prioritizing these creative programs, their biggest program by far is Superfeed Portland.

Superfeed Portland is an initiative started by the non-profit that provides healthy food to the homeless population in Portland. Currently, there are over 4,000 homeless people either living on the streets or in shelters. However, these people have very little access to food- much less nutritious food that will sustain their bodies. This is why Sunshine Awakenings works with California-based Imperfect Produce to help make pressed juices and gluten-free sandwiches for the homeless population. Imperfect Produce is a company that delivers fresh produce unfit for the grocery store- due to shape or size- and sends them to individuals for a fraction of the price. Imperfect Produce has just begun working with Sunshine Awakenings to help provide them with fresh fruits and vegetables weekly for their groundbreaking Superfeed initiative.

While Sunshine Awakenings is an influential non-profit in Portland, it can only stay up and running with the support of the community. That's why the organization is hosting a car donation program! When you donate your old or used vehicle, you will be helping to support Sunshine Awakenings programs, ranging from art therapy to Superfeed. However, as the weather gets colder, Sunshine Awakenings will be focusing solely on providing food to the homeless through their Superfeed project.
