Unique Door Handles in Steel the Place where Art Nouveau Meets Modern Design Trends
(PRWEB) April 27, 2017 -- The Hedgerow tree door handle is the signature piece in Martin Pierce’s unusual door hardware collection so it is not surprising that Pierce has decided to reinvent his work by casting this piece in stainless steel. The Hedgerow collection series was the first collection of door hardware that marked Pierce’s transition from furniture maker to door hardware designer and it is a collection he plans to continue re-inventing. Later this year, he hopes to launch a new illuminated tree handle and in free moments over the last 14 months has been painstakingly carving two grand scale tree motif door handles.
Living in the present, Pierce has recognized that many loyal designers familiar with the Hedgerow series have wanted a door handle equally grand and detailed but with a more contemporary feel. To meet this challenge Martin Pierce Hardware is now offering this iconic door handle in stainless steel. When asked how this alternative medium fits into modern settings Pierce responded “ we cast this in stainless steel but brush the steel rather than polish it and thereby create a softer grey white handle that plays well against the cooler tones of many modern interiors."
Like its predecessor, the newly cast tree door handle is detailed and three dimensional so Pierce worked with video director, Jeff Jenkins of One Fox Two Fox to make a short video to capture these elements. The video succeeds in showing the fluid nature of this sculptural handle and the close up shots focus on revealing the depth and intricacy of the leaf and branch details. By panning across the tree trunks and up the profile of the canopy, Jenkins also captures the shadows cast by the canopy which add a moody quality to this piece. According to Pierce “The video was shot simply using mainly natural light and this plays well against the dark ash doors."
Martin Pierce’s has several videos of his company’s door hardware collections that can be seen in the video gallery on the company’s website.
