Dr. Jack London to Receive 2019 U.S. Navy Memorial Lone Sailor Award
The United States Navy Memorial has selected Dr. J. Phillip (Jack) London as a 2019 Lone Sailor Award Recipient. He will be honored at the Lone Sailor Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 19th, 2019.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The United States Navy Memorial has selected Dr. J. Phillip (Jack) London as a 2019 Lone Sailor Award Recipient. The Lone Sailor Award is given to Sea Service veterans who have excelled with distinction in their respective careers during or after their service. Dr. London joins an impressive list of men and women who have distinguished themselves by drawing upon their military experience to become successful in their subsequent careers and lives, while exemplifying the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
Dr. London is the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board of CACI International Inc. (NYSE:CACI), a $5 billion company providing advanced technology services and solutions for national security missions, electronic warfare and cyber security with 20,000 professionals in 130 locations worldwide,. He joined CACI in 1972 and served as President and CEO from 1984–2007.
Dr. London is a 1959 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a 1967 graduate of Naval Postgraduate School. He was inducted into the Naval Postgraduate School Hall of Fame in 2011. Dr. London served on active duty as an officer, naval aviator, and carrier helicopter pilot for 12 years during the Cold War. He served another 12 years in the Navy Reserve as an aeronautical engineering duty officer, attaining the rank of Captain. During his 33 at-sea deployments, he sailed across the North Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.
Dr. London has served on the U.S. Navy Memorial's Board of Directors since 2008 and is an avid supporter of its mission to Honor, Recognize, and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present, and future; and to Inform the public about their service. He holds the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation's 1990 Plank Owner certificate.
