Dr. Arminio of Village Podiatry Centers Donates Shoes to the Less Fortunate in his Community
Dr. Steven Arminio initiated the "Shoes For The Homeless" program in 2017 through donations within the organization as well as outside vendors. He has been passionate about its success ever since and hopes to grow the program through further community involvement.
ATLANTA, Jan. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Atlanta Podiatrist Steven Arminio initiated the "Shoes For The Homeless" program in 2017 and has been passionate about its success ever since.
This program was started with 120 pairs of shoes that were donated to an Atlanta`s Men and Women`s shelter near Crawford Long Hospital just in time for Christmas. Dr. Arminio involved outside vendors such as Surefit, our diabetic shoe provider, and Anodyne, a company known for their quality, therapeutic footwear. Surefit donated 72 pairs of shoes while Anodyne donated 24 pairs. Dr. Armino also enlisted the help of the entire organization by reaching out to the Director of Operations, Holly Billingsley, to contact our clinics for any pairs of new shoes that had been returned or abandoned. With our offices combined Village Podiatry contributed 24 pairs of new shoes.
"This is such a worthy cause and one that I'm proud to have initiated and one that has been so well received by our preferred vendors, outside vendors, as well as the support of people like Holly within the EHI family. This is just one way that a company like ours can and does give back to the community at large," -- Dr. Steven Arminio.
In 2018 Dr. Arminio was able to collect 96 pairs of shoes which he personally delivered to Zaban Paradies Homeless Shelter, located on Peachtree Street in Midtown, Atlanta, and The Atlanta Mission Center, located on Ivan Allen Blvd NW, in downtown Atlanta. "I can`t believe that I`m actually able to get all those shoes in my Toyota Prius," said Dr. Armino. This amazing donation was made possible again by receiving shoes from within Village Podiatry Centers, Surefit, Anodyne, and another third-party vendor, Dr. Comfort Shoes.
As a podiatrist, Dr. Arminio has seen firsthand the importance of having an adequate pair of shoes to provide comfort and protection from the environment, especially in the winter months. For many homeless, walking is the main mode of transportation and a new pair of shoes can help prevent a variety of foot aliments as well as enhance their quality of life. Dr. Arminio hopes to broaden his "Shoes For The Homeless" program by adding clean new socks donations, which he found to be a huge need as well.
