Dr. Paul Yost to Lead California Society of Anesthesiologists
Orange, CA (PRWEB) July 18, 2014 -- Dr. Paul Yost, an Allied Anesthesia physician, has been elected as president of the 3,000-member California Society of Anesthesiologists. Yost enters into the office with a vow to listen and learn from his colleagues.
“I hope that by doing so I can encourage others to engage politically with the CSA or other organizations in a manner that is as meaningful to them as it is to me,” he said.
Yost brings a wealth of experience and a breadth of interests to the statewide organization, which promotes the highest professional standards, provides continuing education, and advocates for anesthesiologists and their patients.
Currently, he practices adult and pediatric anesthesiology at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange, where he is director of cardiac services, and at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, where he is co-director of pain management and past president of the medical staff.
Yost has always believed that it is important to be involved in organized medicine.
“We’re so much stronger when we work together,” Yost said. “To me it’s something you do. It’s a part of your professional life. You get involved and try to leave the organization better than when you started.”
As CSA president, Yost intends to really listen to members, especially the younger ones, to help identify and respond to their changing needs.
“Our youngest members have the longest time left in the specialty, and they are closest to the knife-edge of change,” Yost said.
He committed to visiting as many training programs as possible in the coming year and to reconnect with program directors and program chairs.
“I really want to know, what do younger anesthesiologists need? How can we make them and ourselves more successful?” Yost said. “As a society, the CSA will be successful to the degree that we can provide demonstrated value to all of our members.”
Yost thanked his colleagues at Allied Anesthesia for allowing him the time to be involved on behalf of the CSA.
“I am very aware that my absence means that someone else is on call and that my involvement does pose a burden on my group,” Yost said.
In his new role, Yost will be able to keep his colleagues at Allied Anesthesia up-to-date on the latest developments in their field for their own growth and for the benefit of their patients.
