Dr. Sanderson Participates in UAB Dentistry Cares Community Day Charity Event
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- On October 9th, more than 500 volunteers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, the UAB School of Nursing, and local dentists, including James L. Sanderson, Jr., D.M.D., joined to give over 350 people dental care at the first UAB Dentistry Cares Community Day.
Basic dental care was given to low-income and poverty stricken people in the Birmingham community at this daylong charity event at no cost. Dental cleanings, restorations, fillings, and extractions were among the treatments and services provided. The event also included on-site wellness exams, health care education, and entry and exit oral health care counseling to patients.
"It was great to have a chance to work alongside other dentists and do something to give back to the community," said Sanderson, dental practitioner and owner of Sandentistry, and alumni of UAB. "We hope this charity event will raise awareness for the need for oral health care in the Birmingham area."
