Drucker + Falk Continues Long-Standing Support of Hampton Roads' Samaritan House With Recent Donation Center Renovation
National multifamily management company recruits other businesses in support of victims of violence and homeless families in Tidewater
NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Sept. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- DF Multifamily, a division of Drucker + Falk, one of the nation's most prominent multifamily management companies, recently teamed up with HD Supply, one of the largest industrial distributors in North America; Lowe's Pro Supply, leading product, services, and solutions provider for professional maintenance customers and companies; Kelly Karpets, local flooring repair and contractor; and Taylor Construction, Virginia Beach-based construction company specializing in retail, restaurant, office, and residential projects, to donate time and money to Hampton Roads-based Samaritan House.
Samaritan House helps victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness through a holistic approach to healing. They offer emergency and permanent housing, case management, counseling, and assistance in navigating the legal system for men, women, and children in need.
Over a total of 40 hours, seven DF team members worked alongside other vendor volunteers to build and erect new walls at Samaritan House to provide ample space in the donation department for drop-offs and sorting. The project participants also worked to create a more functional "Household Supply Room" where Samaritan House clients and case managers are able to more privately select everyday necessities and household items like plates, towels, and bedding needed for their families in their new safe locations. Outdated closets and shelves were also removed and disposed of and replaced with new, heavy-duty industrial rolling storage racks, labeled organizational bins, and customizable shelving. A new donations desk and donations work bench for storage and sorting was also built. The volunteers repaired flooring, replaced outdated locks with modernized keypad deadbolts, and replaced older doors with solid core security doors for updated safety and a stronger sense of security for Samaritan House inhabitants. To top it all off, in-kind donations totaled over $20,000.
The most recent work with Samaritan House adds to DF's history of supporting the organization. In 2019, DF sponsored the "Paint 757 Purple" initiative, raising awareness and funds for programs that help victims of violence break free from their abusers for good through a mural at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. In 2020, DF organized the 'Multifamily Snowball for Good' campaign which challenged other multifamily businesses to do their part during the pandemic and raised over $40,000 for the non-profit. These efforts of support, in addition to the annual volunteerism for DF employees during their 'Day of Giving' has had a major impact on the cause and strengthened the partnership between the two organizations.
One in three women and one in four men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
