Schneider Electric Selects DuPont™ Zytel® for Development of Smart Housing in High Current Connected Air Circuit Breaker
GENEVA (PRWEB) October 17, 2017 -- DuPont is pleased to announce that Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has selected DuPont™ Zytel® for the creation of a high dielectric strength housing for the high precision current (A) sensor in its new connected Masterpact MTZ circuit breaker. The application of Zytel® illustrates DuPont’s ability to provide cutting-edge materials for smart devices and the Internet of Things (IoT), and create innovative solutions to customers’ challenges.
This new halogen-free and UL certified self-extinguishable grade, Zytel® FR95G25V0NH, meets Schneider Electric’s key requirements and exhibits outstanding performance over a long period of time. Furthermore, the use of Zytel® has resulted in a step change performance improvement of the high precision current sensor in Schneider Electric’s air circuit breaker. The Class II or Double Insulated current sensor secures Class II circuit breaker as per International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and Underwriters Laboratory (UL) standards, made possible with Zytel®. DuPont and Schneider Electric worked together on developing this solution, which combines laser-weldability with long term aging performance (over 20 years).
DuPont’s partnership with Schneider Electric goes back more than 25 years. “With customers looking at us for the latest market innovations, over the years our collaboration with DuPont has enabled us to provide our clients with numerous state of the art solutions. The current launch is a hallmark reference, where DuPont helped us to find the right material needed for the Masterpact MTZ,” says Michel Rapeaux, Low Voltage Breaking and Material Expert at Schneider Electric.
According to Antonio Nerone, Development Program Manager at DuPont, “DuPont is constantly contributing to these technically exciting challenges and is eager to respond to the increasing demand for intelligent housing.”
DuPont will be present at the 2017 edition of the Fakuma International trade fair for plastics processing, which takes place at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Centre from 17 to 21 October 2017. To learn more about DuPont’s performance materials offerings, go to http://www.plastics.dupont.com.
