Durham Paralegal Recognized for Extraordinary Volunteer Work
Durham, NC (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- He coaches a soccer team for young boys. He fosters dogs. He helps his firm choose and support worthy charities. And this year he helped the Coalition to Unchain Dogs raise over $4,000 and surpass their fundraising goals.
This is Cameron Boyette, a Social Security Disability paralegal at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, who recently received their “Social Service Award” for his extensive volunteer work.
Each year the employees of James Scott Farrin nominate a coworker for the award. The recipient they ultimately chose is someone who has demonstrated his or her commitment to the charity work that James Scott Farrin participates in throughout the year.
“I just love Cameron. He has such a sweet, quiet spirit and a heart of gold. His dedication to the Coalition was just extraordinary – not to mention the other sacrifices he made in order to contribute as a volunteer soccer coach while continuing to foster rescues. I’m thrilled he won, he is so deserving of this award,” said April Collins, a member of the firm’s Social Services Committee.
Boyette’s heart for others is what led him to his work at James Scott Farrin in the first place.
“I want to help people who are often in situations where they can’t help themselves, get the financial assistance they so desperately need, Boyette said. “James Scott Farrin lets me do that because they want to help people too.”
What began in his job inevitably spilled over into his personal life. After working as a volunteer at multiple company-sponsored charity events, Boyette was nominated onto the company’s Social Service Committee and began volunteering personally as well.
While fostering a dog, Charlie, who was tied to a tree for most of his life, Boyette learned of the Coalition to Unchain Dogs. With Charlie in his thoughts, he said, “It was a no-brainer, we needed to help them.”
And help them he did.
ABOUT THE COALITION TO UNCHAIN DOGS
The Coalition to Unchain Dogs is a non-profit volunteer organization that builds free fences for families with chained dogs, provides free spay/neuter services, and lobbies for legislation that severely restricts the chaining of dogs. The organization originated in Durham, NC and has grown to four chapters in the surrounding North Carolina area. Through their volunteers’ efforts over 1,000 dogs have been unchained.
