Prominent Educator and Private Sector Leader Will Help Superintendents and Edtech Professionals Guide the Future of K-12 Innovation
NEW YORK, Sep. 22, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Institute for Education Innovation(IEI), a national school superintendent think tank that serves as the bridge between district leaders and the K-12 industry to develop solutions to the greatest challenges in public education, is pleased to announce renowned education leader Dwight D. Jones has joined the organization as a senior advisor.
In his role, Jones will co-chair the IEI advisory board, help direct the organization's thought leadership initiatives, and serve as an ambassador for IEI at administrator events and industry summits. He will also chair the selection committee for the "Dwight Jones Courageous Superintendent Award," which was named in his honor by IEI and recognizes a current administrator who carries on his legacy of demonstrating integrity and courage in the face of challenging circumstances.
Jones is one of the small handful of tri-sector educators who has served as superintendent at one of the nation's largest school districts, a state commissioner of education, and a senior executive working to address issues of equity and access within the field's private sector. He is the founder and President of Education Practice and Policy Partners where he advises education donors, investors, and executives across the K-12 spectrum. He is also a senior advisor with Whiteboard Advisors, a mission-driven communications, research, and consulting firm.
"IEI has been privileged to have Jones serve on our advisory board and is thrilled he will expand his role to help educators and edtech leaders tackle public education's most pressing issues," remarked Doug Roberts, CEO and founder of IEI. "Dwight Jones is not only a sought-after speaker on the intersection of education policy, practice, and innovation, but also a valued mentor and friend to me and to superintendents across the country. We're just glad we'll get to spend more time learning from him."
As an IEI member, Jones has seen first-hand the organization's impact on building relationships between educators and those in the edtech sector. "Because administrators are spread across the country, they don't have a lot of opportunities to really learn from each other and problem solve together. I'm excited to use my background in education to advise IEI on its efforts in facilitating a community approach to developing effective, sustainable solutions that advance K-12 education and student outcomes."
