Earl Shipp Elected Chairperson of CHI St. Luke’s Health System Board of Directors
HOUSTON (PRWEB) August 02, 2018 -- The CHI Texas Division announced today that Earl Shipp, former Vice President of Operations, U.S. Gulf Coast, The Dow Chemical Company, has been elected chairperson of the CHI St. Luke’s Health System Board of Directors.
“Since joining our Board of Directors in 2016, Mr. Shipp has provided invaluable leadership and business insight,” said Doug Lawson, PhD, Chief Executive Officer, CHI Texas Division. “We look forward to his continued support and guidance as we advance the vision of our health system throughout Southeast Texas.”
During his tenure at Dow Chemical, Shipp held numerous domestic and international leadership positions. Shipp oversaw nine manufacturing sites including Texas Operations, the largest integrated chemical manufacturing complex in the world. Shipp’s prior assignments include a move to Dubai, UAE, to launch the India, Middle East, and Africa Region for Dow. In 2007, Shipp was named Business Group President for Basic Chemicals, serving on the Business Operations Committee with responsibility for oversight of six basic chemical businesses. He was named President – India, Middle East & Africa (IMEA) for Dow in 2008. Shipp became the Vice President of Texas Operations in 2011 and then Vice President of U.S. Gulf Coast Operations in 2012, where he led Dow’s $6 Billion investment program across the US Gulf Coast

Shipp is a member of the Board of Directors of Olin Corporation, where he sits on the Audit and Governance committees of the Board. He is also a Commissioner for the Brazoria and Fort Bend Rail District.
Shipp is the immediate past Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Economic Development Alliance of Brazoria County, and past Chairman of the Board of the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University in Michigan, and is a graduate of the Indiana University Business School Consortium.
Mr. Shipp succeeds Leonard Tallerine, inaugural chairperson of the CHI St. Luke’s Health System Board of Directors.
