CLEARWATER, Fla., Jan. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- easyMedicare.com (https://www.easyMedicare.com), an affiliate of e-TeleQuote Insurance, Inc., released a new video containing information about the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, also known as OEP.
The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period—which was initiated in 2019—provides an opportunity for individuals who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (Part C) Plan to drop their plan or switch to a different Part C Plan. This enrollment period occurs from January 1, 2020, through March 31, 2020. Medicare beneficiaries can change plans only once during OEP, which differs from the Annual Election Period (October 15 through December 7 annually).
Consumers who consider dropping a Part C Plan without switching to a different Part C Plan during this period should know that doing so will not make them eligible for a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plan, although they may be able to qualify through medical underwriting. Individuals who drop a Medicare Advantage Plan will be returned to only Medicare Parts A and B, and will have an opportunity to enroll in a Part D Plan so they are not without prescription drug coverage.
"The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period is an extremely important time of year for people who are on a Medicare Advantage Plan," says Anthony P. Solazzo, CEO of e-TeleQuote. "It can be critical for individuals who are enrolled in a plan that does not fit their needs. We want to ensure that beneficiaries are informed about their options and have the opportunity to make the choice that is best suited for them."
