Electric TV Attends The 44th Annual Outside Line Conference
Denver, CO (PRWEB) April 13, 2015 -- The 44th Annual Outside Line Conference, hosted by the Electrical Training Alliance (formerly the NJATC), took place on March 16 and 17 in Ft. Myers, Florida. Industry leaders and educators gathered with stakeholders to ensure outside linemen and women, responsible for upgrading and maintaining the country’s power lines and substations, are being continually educated with the most current, cutting-edge industry practices. Electric TV created a recap video of the conference, which can be viewed here.
The event covered a variety of topics including safety training, development of new learning materials, and how to satisfy increasing employer demand for skilled workers. Education materials including a new rigging textbook, updates to the personal protective equipment textbook, medium voltage cable splicing instructions, and a crane certification course were also on the agenda.
“It’s meetings like this where we talk about common issues in areas where we need to know what others are doing with regard to training across the United States and Canada.” President Edwin D. Hill of the IBEW said.
Geary Higgins, NECA VP of Labor Relations added, “A conference like this is an opportunity for people to come together and get updated on new techniques and technologies.”
Conference discussions also examined changes to OSHA regulations, emerging technologies, and new equipment options, with a focus on how to educate the membership about these new developments.
