ELGIN, Ill., July 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Volkswagen has changed its warranty policy for its vehicles as of the 2020 model year, and local dealership Elgin VW is now offering that newly altered warranty as a result. The reworked warranty now provides four years or 50,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage, with powertrain coverage spanning the same timeframe.
The most exciting addition to the new warranty policy is that all 2020 and later models come with two years or 20,000 miles of what Volkswagen calls, "Carefree Maintenance." Select service procedures are covered under this moniker, including an oil change, a long list of "check" items and a road test.
The Volkswagen warranty provides coverage on any repairs that must occur due to defects in the manufacturer's material or workmanship. In addition, 24-hour roadside assistance is provided for three years or 36,000 miles.
The length of the Volkswagen warranty has been shortened from that of the previous year, but it still surpasses the coverage provided by many mainstream competitors. It also matches the length of typical luxury brand warranty coverage.
The outgoing Volkswagen warranty, known as the automaker's People First Warranty, is still provided to those who purchase a new VW from the 2019 or 2018 model years. The People First Warranty does not include two years of Carefree Maintenance, but it does last for six years or 72,000 miles (whichever comes first).
Those interested in learning more about the new Volkswagen warranty coverage are encouraged to head to the Elgin Volkswagen website at http://www.elginvw.com. The dealership can also be contacted via telephone at 877-797-6424. The full inventory may be perused (and test-driven) in-person at the dealership location of 2630 Auto Mall Drive, Elgin.
