NEW YORK, Dec 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Kristy Wallace, CEO of Ellevate Network, will testify in front of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Small Business on a hearing entitled "Embracing Corporate Social Responsibility: Small Business Best Practices."
Chaired by Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY), the Committee on Small Business strives to support new and small businesses through open access to loans, credit, and capital; advocate fair and true tax relief for small business; work to open the lucrative federal marketplace to entrepreneurs, reduce onerous paperwork, and give small companies the tools they need to take care of their employees and build their companies.
This particular hearing examines how small businesses can integrate best practices that promote social good and sustainability at all stages, either as part of an initial business plan or later in the life of their company. It will assess how the federal government can support and empower small business owners to not only make a profit, but be forces for social good.
Kristy Wallace explained, "I am humbled by the opportunity to bring some of the issues that lie at the core of innovation and prosperity to the Committee's attention. The corporate social responsibility landscape is shifting from what was once a conversation about supporting non-profit causes to becoming the heart of our social, political and business ecosystem. We need to ensure that businesses that support the good of our nation are met with the supportive policies they deserve and clear, standardized measuring practices."
Wallace concluded, "As a certified B-Corporation, Ellevate is a clear example of how businesses can succeed financially while driving positive impact. I am excited to speak on the importance of harnessing the power of business to drive social good, as well the need for policies and systems that better supporting entrepreneurs, particularly women and underserved people, in being change agents in their communities."
Alongside Wallace, the witnesses who will testify at the hearing include Dr. Robert Strand, Executive Director, Center for Responsible Business, University of California-Berkeley Haas School of Business; Vincent Stanley, Director of Philosophy, Patagonia; Jaime Arroyo, Associate, Work Wisdom, LLC. on behalf of Kedren Crosby, President, Work Wisdom; and Sean McElwee, President and Chief Creative Officer, Seanese.
The testimony will take place at 11:30 am EST and can be accessed online. For more information on Wallace's testimony and to watch the hearing, click here.
