WASHINGTON, March 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Emerging Scholars (ES) 007th Annual Gala will take place Friday, April 5, 2019, beginning 6:30 pm at the NEW International Spy Museum located at 700 L'Enfant Plaza, SW in Washington, DC. The spy-themed Giving Dangerously event includes internationally renowned chef and humanitarian José Andrés, as well as VA Delegate and Minority Caucus Chair Charniele Herring in its all-star lineup of host committee members helping to support the program's mission. The gala celebrates the achievements of ES scholars while raising critical funds to sustain programming for years to come.
ES offers tuition-free academic instruction, leadership development and mentorships to bright, motivated students whose families would not otherwise have the resources to achieve their full academic potential. Since 2002, ES students from 5th grade through college years have been awarded over $20 million dollars in both need and merit-based scholarships to attend top independent schools and universities across the country.
"The ES model prepares our scholars for a lifetime of success," said Stefanie Erkiletian, Chair of the ES Board of Trustees. "I'm humbled by the generous contributions of our attendees, sponsors and host committee members that enable us to make a real difference in the lives of these extraordinary young people."
The ES 007th Gala will be emceed by Fox 5's Erin Como and will feature creative cuisine, décor and entertainment inspired by the venue. The James Bond-themed evening will honor the dedicated support of the Van Metre Companies and Van Metre Family Foundation, whose ongoing generosity has been vital to the organization's success. Guests will enjoy dancing, auction opportunities to win exciting experiences and luxury items, and a drawing for exquisite diamond jewelry provided by Le Dragon d'Or.
"Not only did ES welcome our largest ever class of scholars, our graduates continue to make us proud! Students who statistically would not have attended college at all have been accepted to and are now graduating from such prestigious institutions as Columbia, Northwestern, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia, and West Point - just to name a few," says Ruth Hazel, ES Executive Director. "This year's gala will be our biggest and best yet as we raise the bar to meet the growing needs of our expanding student enrollment and program offerings."
