Just because September is nearly here, doesn’t mean the summer fun has to stop. There is still plenty of time to keep that summer feeling going a little bit longer. Recently, Lifestlyle Expert Gretchen Connelie teamed with Tommy Bahama and YourUpdateTV to share her tips to keep summer alive.

Keeping the flavors of summer in meals is crucial this year. With no family style meals or buffet tables in the cards, it’s important to find fun and safe ways to pre-portion and individually serve food.
Take a classic BBQ rib dinner and use individual, pre-portioned bento boxes to serve to each guest individually. Make the meal, or better yet, try the Tommy Bahama Meal Packages that have a whole dinner with sides includes.
Appetizers are tough because they are usually made to be shared. Using mini-cups and individual chip bags, hosts can still present the perfect chips and dip spread. Salads, like Chicken Mango, can be served in special cups with a built-in container for the dressing. Tape a fork to the side, and guests will have a safe and portable dish.
Desserts, such as Pina Colada Cupcakes or Key Lime Pie parfait, can be easily individualized and put in covered containers and are the perfect way to end any summer meal.
When it comes to drinks, punch bowls and pitchers just won’t cut it this year. Frozen margarita pops, which can be made with or without alcohol, can be a big party hit, along with a can bar, featuring everything from wine and cocktails to sparking water.
Décor is key when making things a little more fun than usual. Twinkle lights, candles, beachy pillows, rolling coolers and of course, the classic Tommy Bahama beach chair. Use it at the beach, the park, the backyard or the rooftop.
It’s always to fun to dress the part when celebrating summer. Cool and breezy clothes, bright colors and prints, and performance fabrics can keep you in that summer state of mind.
So just because September is nearly here, doesn’t mean the summer fun has to stop.
