Energage, the leader in helping companies collect, analyze, and act on employee feedback, released data highlighting an across-the-board increase in overall employee engagement since COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders took effect beginning March 15, 2020. As companies look to return to work, these findings are significant and reinforce the decisions made recently by multinational companies that are reimagining their workforces going forward.
The findings compare survey data from 1,700 organizations that completed the Energage Workplace Survey prior to March 15, 2020, with 700 organizations that completed the same survey after that date.
The survey, created by Energage, has been used for 14 years by more than 60,000 organizations across the country. It also serves as the qualifying survey for Top Workplaces, the leading employer recognition program covering 51 major U.S. metro areas/states. Comprised of 24 scientifically-based statements, the survey data indicates significant increases in employee engagement as well as the 15 Culture Drivers across all levels—team members, managers and senior leaders.
Key findings include:
- +22% Clued-In Employees: Team members are feeling more informed about important decisions.
- +17% Clued-In Leaders: Team members say senior managers understand what is really happening within the organization more than before.
- +16% Interdepartmental Cooperation: Team members believe there is better interdepartmental cooperation now than before the pandemic.
- +15% Appreciation: Team members feel more appreciated now.
- +15% Confidence in Leader: Healthcare saw the biggest jump in confidence in leadership, likely due to leaders in this sector stepping forward to a more public role than before the pandemic.
- +13% Fair Pay: Employees are more satisfied with compensation.
