Energyworx Strengthens Board With Two Utility Industry Veterans
Appointments of Mel Kroon and Rob van Rees mark significant era of growth for intelligent meter data management company as it invests heavily in new product development and international growth
SAN FRANCISCO, and HOUTEN, The Netherlands, April 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Energyworx (https://www.energyworx.com), a market leader in Intelligent Meter Data Management, today announced the appointment of two industry veterans to its global supervisory board. Mel Kroon joins Energyworx as Chairman of the Board. He previously spent 16 years as CEO at TenneT, the national transmission system operator of The Netherlands and Germany, and is seen as one of the most influential and visionary leaders in the European utility industry. During Kroon's tenure, TenneT grew from 270 to over 4,000 employees, acquired 45 companies and grew its balance sheet from €1 billion to €20 billion.
"The vast majority of utility companies have a complex, legacy IT landscape, which makes innovation – and ultimately – digital transformation, difficult to accomplish," said Mel Kroon, Chairman of the Board at Energyworx. "With the global roll-out of smart meters and the growth of IoT devices in the grid, most utilities have significant challenges in getting value out of their data. It is not just the amount of data that's causing issues; it's being able to quickly connect to the data, find and understand the data, and also to trust the data, as data quality is one of the biggest issues in the utility industry. I am extremely impressed with the Energyworx platform and its ability to help energy-related companies adapt to changing market conditions, discover new business models and significantly monetize their data."
Rob van Rees, co-founder and former CEO of Greenchoice has joined Energyworx as a board member. He was responsible for the fast growth of Greenchoice, the first completely renewable energy company in The Netherlands. "During my time at Greenchoice I learned the importance of reliable, scalable and flexible solutions for utilities, which is crucial for success in this industry. Energyworx's Meter Data Management (MDM) solutions are the most flexible that I have ever seen and they help utilities to monetize their vast amount of data."
"Enhancing the Energyworx team with seasoned veterans from the industry who will help us with their expertise at the necessary global scale is critical as Energyworx continues to scale," said Marcel E. Smit, CEO of Energyworx. "I'm excited to have Mel Kroon and Rob van Rees join Energyworx as part of our global expansion. Mel's strategic enterprise expertise and Rob's business acumen will be indispensable as we look to the next phase of our international growth, unveil new and exciting partnerships, and leverage our capabilities to bring new products to market."
Worldwide data accumulated by utilities continues to grow at a rapid pace. Energyworx empowers utilities to further monetize their data in an uncomplicated and affordable way. As a result, Energyworx has achieved significant growth in recent years, adding a number of global utilities to its list of customers and rolling out a new enterprise-grade platform for Intelligent MDM solutions for utilities.
