AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Proven entrepreneur Tony Hartl announced today a new plan to open 21 Crunch Fitness gyms across the United States by 2024. Hartl, who previously built the Planet Tan brand into a multimillion-dollar empire, has already successfully opened Crunch franchises in Killeen and Waco, Texas.
"It's why I came out of retirement after 10 years," said Hartl. "To have the opportunity to changes lives and impact the community for generations to come."
Hartl has set the lofty goal of creating 1,000 jobs within five years, which he estimates will impact the lives of about 200,000 people. So far in 2019, he has already created 70 jobs.
"Only 930 to go," Hartl said with a smile.
Hartl's existing Crunch franchises have helped to revitalize the areas in which they are located. Crunch Killeen took over the space of a former K-Mart in Sept. 2018, and has attracted new neighboring businesses to South Fort Hood Street ever since. Crunch Waco opened its doors on Jan. 1, 2019, revitalizing a rundown shopping center on prominent section of North Valley Mills Drive.
"We are pumping millions of dollars into these areas that have been neglected and creating jobs for the community," said Hartl.
