ELGA was a co-sponsor of tournament Hole 16 for the annual "Drive Fore Hope" charity fundraiser for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois.
Boys Hope Girls Hope was founded in 1977 by Jesuit priest Father Paul Sheridan. Today it is a privately funded, non-profit, multi-denominational organization that provides at-risk children with a stable home, high quality education, and the support they need to reach their full potential.
Many of the children served over the past four decades by BHGH came from home environments marked by abuse, poverty or neglect. Others came from caring families unable to meet the child's needs because of poverty, violence or dangerous neighborhoods.
Said Brian Trebels: "The annual golf tournament raises a very substantial percentage of the annual budget at Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois. North Shore Country Club was founded in 1900 and was designed by English architect Charles Alison of Colt MacKenzie and Alison. In 1933, it hosted the United States Open Championship. It has also hosted the Western Open once and the U.S. Amateur Championship twice. It was host site of the Encompass Championship on the Champions Tour from 2013-2015.
