WESTLAKE, Ohio (PRWEB) January 06, 2020
The holidays were a little brighter for local underprivileged children thanks to the generosity of Equity Trust Company employees and local businesses.
For the sixth year, members of the employee-led GIVE Committee organized a toy drive to supply Christmas gifts to members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lorain County – Desich Family Campus. Employees of Equity Trust, with help from the Cleveland Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) commercial real estate office, bought toys to provide 150 children with two gifts each.
Santa stopped by to distribute gifts at a party at Equity Trust headquarters on December 13. The children were treated to pizza donated by Neechi’s Pizza in Avon, as well as gift bags of treats and personal care items contributed by Equity Trust employees.
“It is exciting to see some of the same kids come back each year and watch the excitement on their faces when they get to open their gifts,” said Matt Collier and Anthony DeVito, GIVE Committee Co-Chairs. “Our employees are passionate about giving back to the community, so for them to be a part of this event every year is important to them. It helps to show what the holiday is all about in giving all the kids an opportunity to open a present that they may not otherwise receive.”
Equity Trust and its founders, the Desich family, have been a community partner of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lorain County for several years. Also, Richard Desich, Jr. serves the organization as President of the Board.
The Christmas party was just one of the GIVE Committee’s many community-focused efforts in 2019. Employees donated $49,000 throughout the year, benefiting local organizations in addition to the Boys & Girls Club – Desich Family Campus, including the City of Westlake Community Services Department and Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio.
