Promotions to the partner, principal, executive director and director ranks involve a rigorous selection process that recognizes each person’s achievements and potential. Jon C. Smith was promoted to partner from senior manager. He is a member of EY’s Assurance practice, where he serves public and private clients in the real estate industry, including traded and non-traded REITs, real estate funds and homebuilders. He has extensive experience with real estate valuations, partnership incentive models and general real estate accounting matters, and is a frequent instructor in the firm’s training courses. Smith is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton, where he remains actively involved in EY recruiting efforts.
John Straub was promoted to partner from senior manager. Straub is a member of EY’s Assurance practice, where he serves large and small, public and private clients in the financial services industry. He also has experience with mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, debt offerings and litigation support. He is an active supporter of EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program. Straub is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in Ohio and California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Straub graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Ohio State University’s Honors Accounting Program.
Melody Leung was promoted to principal from senior manager. Leung is a member of EY’s Tax practice, specializing in international tax transfer pricing, where she serves media and entertainment, technology and life sciences clients throughout the West Coast. She is a frequent speaker on transfer pricing topics, a member of the American Society of Appraisers and is actively involved in professional organizations including the EY Professional Women’s Network. Leung has a bachelor’s degree with honors from UC Berkeley and an MBA with academic distinction from UCLA.
Shannon Haight was promoted to executive director from senior manager and is a member of EY’s Tax practice. She provides tax advisory services related to accounting methods and inventory, which include income and expense recognition, capitalization of tangible and intangible property, LIFO and other general inventory and accounting method issues for companies in diverse industries throughout the West Coast. Haight received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and a Master in Business Taxation from the University of Southern California. She is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Roger Idnani was promoted to executive director from senior manager. Idnani is a member of EY’s Tax practice, where he serves diverse clients at private and multinational publicly held companies. He has extensive experience in accounting for income taxes, is a regular speaker on tax topics and frequently teaches classes relating to accounting for income taxes. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Idnani graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting and also holds an MBA and a master’s degree in Taxation.
Stasia Mitchell was promoted to director from associate director. Mitchell is the West Assurance Business Development Markets Leader and Orange County/San Diego Business Development Leader. Over her 16 years at EY, she has worked with companies in the technology, real estate, life sciences and industrial and consumer products industries. Since 2006, Mitchell has worked in the business development practice aligning the needs of her clients with the capabilities that EY offers. She is an active supporter of EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program and Strategic Growth Forum. Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Management from the University of the Pacific and from the University of Westminster, United Kingdom.
Doug Simao was promoted to director from senior manager. Simao is a member of EY’s national Advisory practice, leading its Advisory Acquisitions program in the Americas and globally. Previously, he served as chief marketing officer in the high-tech sector and led his own consulting practice. Simao is actively involved in the community and currently serves as immediate past chair of the California State University Fullerton Board of Governors, is a Lifetime Director of the Pacific Symphony and a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
