"This is a critical time for us to leverage data to ensure we are making the most informed decisions possible."

ESO, the leading data and software company serving emergency medical services (EMS), fire departments and hospitals, today announced the update of its COVID-19 Resource Center. The Resource Center is designed to share relevant information and data insights regarding COVID-19 in the prehospital-to-hospital setting to help providers and responders understand important trends related to the outbreak. The Resource Center data elements are updated frequently.

“We are in the midst of a significant COVID-19 surge in the United States that is impacting all of our first responders and frontline workers,” said Dr. Brent Myers, Chief Medical Officer for ESO. “We encourage organizations to use the charts and data to understand what might be happening in their communities and make decisions accordingly, especially as we see increases in 911 calls, flu-like impressions, and PPE usage. This is a critical time for us to leverage data to ensure we are making the most informed decisions possible.”

Key Data Elements in the Resource Center Include:

  • Mortality Rate and Acuity of Hospitalized COVID-19 EMS Patients
  • 911 patients with COVID-19 EMS provider impressions
  • 911 records with COVID-19 hospital diagnoses
  • Patients transported by EMS and died in the hospital due to COVID-19
  • 911 records with influenza-like illness impressions
  • Documented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use among all 911 records

The data for the COVID-19 Resource Center comes from the ESO Data Collaborative consisting of more than 2,000 EMS agencies across the United States. The ESO Data Collaborative represents one of the largest collections of prehospital data in the country.
