Everspark Interactive Comments on Adobe Smart Pen
(PRWEB) July 31, 2013 -- Adobe is bucking the trend in mobile device interface by taking a cue from the handhelds of years past: a stylus. The company announced the development of a new "smart pen" stylus that will work across multiple platforms. Other smart pens on the market have not taken off with consumers, but technologist and marketer Chris Watson says Adobe's new offering could beat that trend.
The stylus, still in an "exploratory" stage, has been dubbed "Project Mighty" and the current prototype is a sleek three-sided aluminum pen with a "bead blasted" finish. It can draw on touchscreens but also aims to do much more, such as taking data from one device to another or up to the cloud.
Watson is a co-founder of Everspark Interactive, a creative marketing, web content and SEO firm based in Atlanta. He said that with Project Mighty functionality he could see the stylus making a comeback outside the drafting room.
"Adobe wants this pen to copy and past from one device to another," Watson said. "It brings your color schemes and settings with it, and pulls drawings from the cloud on any device. For a designer it untethers you from your workstation."
Watson says that could increase collaboration within or between offices, as designers drop their ideas or sketches fluidly onto each other's machines.
"Adobe is the company that makes some of our best creative programs,” Watson said. “I would expect their own stylus to do a lot more of what creative types need."
