New report reveals what matters most to healthcare consumers across six continents
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 10, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Continuing its mission to elevate the human experience in healthcare, The Beryl Institute has released "Consumer Perspectives on Patient Experience 2024", a follow-up to its 2018 and 2021 reports. This latest study confirms a longstanding message from healthcare consumers: the experience they have in healthcare profoundly matters. The report captures insights from 13 countries across six continents, revealing that while healthcare outcomes are critical and expected, what remains equally important to people around the world are the human interactions that shape their experience and drive outcomes overall. This year's inquiry is the most comprehensive and broad collection of voices brought together for this study.
Key Findings
The primary goal of this inquiry was to determine what matters most to healthcare consumers and to offer actionable insights for healthcare organizations to enhance patient experience. After six years of study, the findings reveal that consumers' core needs are unwavering. Patients know what they expect from healthcare and are clear about how they will share their experiences based on the care they receive.
The following themes emerged as top priorities for consumers:
- Safety and Trust: Patients expect safe, appropriate care, which fosters trust in the healthcare system, a cornerstone for building loyalty and positive relationships.
"Even in systems around the world where choices may feel limited, people's voices are not. The stories they tell are real, and the experiences they have matter," said Jason Wolf, Ph.D., CPXP, President & CEO of The Beryl Institute. "The results we find affirm that we have significant opportunities to share, learn, and grow together in caring for our fellow citizens and one another, no matter where we stand on the earth."
