The report ranks Iowa, Vermont, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin as the top five best states for drivers in 2021. While Iowa earned the best overall score, New Jersey ranks first for safety, Wisconsin for vehicle ownership and maintenance costs, and Utah for traffic and road conditions.

The worst states overall for U.S. drivers include California, Maryland, New Jersey, Florida, and Colorado. South Carolina earned the lowest score for safety, California for costs to drivers, and New Jersey for traffic and road conditions.
