Despite many deeply held views, much of DeFi is likely regulated to one degree or another.

Global Blockchain Convergence (“GBC”) announced today its DeFi Risk, Regulation and Reputation Webinar, scheduled to take place on October 21st at Noon (12pm) ET. This webinar continues GBC’s focus on DeFi.

Emma Channing, General Counsel at Satis Group and GBC Steering Committee member, expressed, "Despite many deeply held views, much of DeFi is likely regulated to one degree or another. The degree will depend greatly on variety of factors, including the degree of control that one or more persons has over the protocol. It remains to be seen how soon we will see enforcement, but this panel will undoubtedly dive into these issues with a great deal of lively debate."

GBC is a 150+ person global blockchain policy laboratory and think tank, whose primary mission is to create organic opportunities for collaboration across the blockchain tech stack. GBC proclaimed August 2020 “DeFi Month” and ran a series of groundbreaking webinars on the brave new world of DeFi, its philosophies, products and challenges, featuring market participants, compliance professionals and regulators to bring clarity to the space. Aspects of DeFi will undoubtedly face regulation, and the panel will discuss how projects and regulators alike should think about achieving effective compliance without squashing DeFi’s positive attributes.

The DeFi Risk, Regulation and Reputation webinar will feature Kelley Weaver, CEO of Melrose PR, as moderator of an all-star panel of Colleen Sullivan (Partner and CEO in CMT Digital Holdings LLC), Tegan Klein (Head of BD and IR at The Graph), Troy Paredes (Founder of Paredes Strategies LLC, and from 2008-2013, an SEC Commissioner) and Brian Quintenz (currently since 2017 a CFTC Commissioner). It will undoubtedly be a lively and informed discussion. Get your questions and comments ready!
