ALBANY, N.Y., Oct. 6, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) the national association that represents digital court reporters and legal transcribers is honored to announce October 6th, 2021, as Digital Court Reporter and Legal Transcriber Day. This full day celebration themed "Securing the Record Through Digital Methods" celebrates Digital Court Reporting and Legal Transcription as the fastest growing method of capturing the legal record and creating a transcript. Members of AAERT and the legal community are asked to spread awareness about this little known but rapidly expanding field and give appreciation for those who capture the record through digital methods.
Digital Court Reporters and Legal Transcribers are professionals who are responsible for capturing and transcribing legal proceedings such as trials, hearings, depositions, examinations under oath, arbitrations, and meetings. Many of them work in the court system as Official Reporters while others work as independent contractors for court reporting agencies and transcription firms.
"Digital reporting and legal transcription has a long history in the court reporting market. AAERT is proud of our members who are committed to the standards and best practices we have established. Today is to honor those who uphold these standards every day. Thank you for your dedication to excellence," says Janet Harris AAERT President.
AAERT is trying to help fill the gap of nearly 10,000 needed court reporters and transcription professionals. As litigation has increased over the last 25 years, the number of court reporters has declined. "Now that digital technology has been adopted throughout the country, we have seen a rise in the number of people interested in the field," says AAERT Board of Directors member and host for DCRT Day Career Showcase Benjamin Jaffe. He continues with, "there has never been a better time to enter the field. There is such a need for these vital roles which impacts the criminal justice and civil litigation systems."
To honor its members and those in the profession AAERT is hosting a free day of events:

Thank a Mentor/Educator on Social Media Event

"AAERT thanks our digital reporting and transcription community for your commitment to our profession. In this very uncertain world and competitive market, we know you are constantly needing to adapt to new technologies and expectations from your customers. AAERT appreciates your dedication and professionalism. The demand for digital has increased exponentially across private and public markets. We appreciate you all," says Janet Harris.
