FAA Grants RTI Group, LLC UAS 333 Exemption
Stevensville, MD (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Forensic Engineering Firm, RTI Group, LLC announces that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted RTI 333 Exemption, a privilege that has only been awarded to two other forensic engineering businesses in the United States. This exemption allows RTI Group to legally operate Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for forensic investigation. RTI Group will be adhering to strict regulations guide lined by the 333 Exemption.
RTI Group will utilize the UAS 333 Exemption to offer the firm’s AerExam™ "Aerial Examination Vehicle" Solution. This service applies aerial photography and videography to enable accident response and forensic investigations to be quicker, safer, and more affordable. In order to preserve and document accident sites, the AerExam™ has onboard imaging systems, controlled by the operator on the ground. The operator is able to view a live feed of the footage while maneuvering the AerExam™ around the object or over the landscape. Once the data is downloaded from the UAS by the Imaging Sciences Department, state-of-the-art software is used to create a 3D point cloud with the imagery and GPS data. The three dimensional model provides a reliable and accurate platform that can be used to make precise data measurements. Pertinent information can be accessed at any time, and can be explored from various angles on an as-needed basis. Law firms, insurance adjusters, surveyors, and other notable parties will find this service to be highly important to document debris fields, explosions, fires, land surveys, and more.
“Granted our 333 Exemption from the FAA allows RTI to be at the forefront by utilizing advanced technology for investigations and ultimately providing the factual answers to our clients,” said company Chief Operations Officer, Jeremy Reynolds. “The 333 exemption allows us to conduct aerial examinations of accident scenes that preserve the evidence in a 3D point cloud. We look forward to implementing RTI’s AerExam service; this technology will allow our experts to safely and accurately inspect areas of interest while providing a cost effect solution to our clients.”
